November 26th 2007 11:15
The Spitalfields Winter Festival is part of a year-round community program celebrating East London's history and diversity while offering a typically eclectic mixture of music, tours and events.
Some of this year's highlights include:
- Marvel at the architecture and the stories behind Christ Church Spitalfields and Wilton's Music Hall
- Explore past and present East End cultures with visits to the old Jewish quarter and the East London Mosque
- Enjoy some traditional bell ringing with The Society of Royal Cumberland Youths
- Trace the area's diverse heritage musically, as improvisational performers Joglaresa whisk you around the Mediterranean and back to England with a medley of traditional and medieval songs
- Try your hand at gospel singing in a workshop led by dynamic choir leader, Tina Brooks
- Or simply join in a traditional carol service in historic Christ Church
