Changing of the guard

May 23rd 2008 03:30
Buckingham Palace Guard

It's safe to say that no visit to London would be complete without a visit to Buckingham Palace and viewing the traditional changing of the guard.

This military tradition takes place in the Forecourt of Buckingham Palace at 11:30am every day in the summer and every other day in the winter. The Guard comprises two detachments, one each for Buckingham Palace and St James's Palace, under the command of the Captain of The Queen's Guard.

The best vantage point for the changing of the guard is from outside the front gates and its completely free so get there early for the best spots!
